'Ring Run Route

I've been doing a bit of investigating as to thebest route to take from Dunkerque and obviously there are various routes but the consensus looks to be this route. It avoids Bruxelles which by all accounts can be a real pig for traffic should we hit at the wrong time of day

Essentially the suggestion is to go Dunkerque head towards Lille, then Mon, then Namur then Vervilars then Mullenbach.
Just put Dunkerque to Mullenbach via Namur that takes you E42 nearly all the way there missing out Bruxelles and all the traffic.

I have heard that the E42 is a bit bumpy, anyone shed more light on that?

Has anyone got any other ideas of a good route or perhaps disagree with this one?

We did the E40 route when we went and getting round Brussels was fine, suppose it depends on what time you catch it.

The road after the E40 there is one section that is some kind of suspension test road with loads of blobs of tarmac all over it. All I can say is I just about had some teeth left after that so not fun at all.

You could avoid this by going further down the E25 I think and cutting across the route we went is on www.nurburgring.org

Bloke at work said there was an article in the star (sat or sundays paper) and it said the bill were pulling people on the way to the ring and setting traps. Shocked

It says the german police are fed up with petrol heads from the uk coming over in old bangers n driving flatout on the autobahns n going to the ring.They check the car n if it wouldnt pass the german tuv test then they will conviscate your car, they mention spiolers, lowered suspension n non tuv tyres that they dont like.

Dont know if this is actually true or if its designed to put you off, eaither way i dont like the sound of it. mad

I don't normally travel to and from the UK via Calais or Dunkirk but from what the lads say that I work with is that they go for speeding drivers.

If you stick to the speed limits you'll be ok. If you get off the ferry and gun it all the way to the ring then all the way back again you'll more than likely get nabbed.
