Hi, im new to the forums and am looking for some advice on what my MK1 may be worth. I'll tell you a little about the car and any help will be greatly appreciated.

Its a 1984 MK1 Astra GTE
Its has covered just 18000 genuine miles from new and is i would say in excellent condition for its age.
Its black, an excellent runner and has 11 months MOT, but no Tax. Currently SORN
The car is totally original, never had any panel repairs or resprays ect. Its is as it was the day it rolled out of the factory in 1984. The paint still shines like a new car.
I've been keeping a close eye on other MK1's for sale and most now are in pretty bad condition. Saying this however even with out tax and mot, high miles ect they seem to be selling for thousands.
I know these cars are extremly rare now and even rarer to find with very low miles ect.
So how much should i be asking for it? I will be putting it up for sale over the next week. I will also post a link to the car here once it has been advertised, so you can all see pics ect. Any help would be great.

hi there i think this is unfair describing this car as you are!
it has a good amount of filler in the nsr quarter which isnt even flat and looks like it has been painted from a mile away or a spray can.it has had a full non genuine front end on also a non genuine lower valance as hasnt got the slots in.the complete body kit is bolted on with very ugly 10mm bolts sticking out everywere.it needs full carpets as someone has ripped up the front carpets and torn them when they have welded the bulkhead up with horrible looking patches.the rear carpet has been set fire to when they forgot to lift the carpet up to weld the rear floor.it also has some patches on rear chassis legs where the axle is attached which dont look the best. it has been hand painted in the boot and various other places.it also needs a complete roof lining as is non existent.the gear stick is and steering wheel are completely smooth 18000 miles yeah rite.its got a non standard fuel pressure regulator on the fuel pump half painted rocker cover which makes me think someone young has owned it.engine bay has had numerous patches and painted over with thick paint.i would be honest with this car and describe it properly rather than giving people false information and geting peoples hopes up. frown

Regardless of whether the guy is truthful or not the fact remains the same

its 30 years old and will therefore be rotten in all the ulsual places, even if its only got 18k on it, the kit will hide everything.

pics are needed to give a value but its not going to be worth 000's like others are going for as they only get that after a full resto

Can i just ask how you know so much about this car? How could you possibly know which car im talking about from a very brief description posted on a forum? There has'nt even been any pictures shown. Do you have some kind of crystal ball that can see in to the future? lol

yeah fair enough i agree its a 30yr old car but its been described as 18000 miles from new and in very good nick go and see it with your own eyes then tell me im not telling the truth ive seen it!!!!the gear nob is smooth as is the steering wheel since when did a car with this miles on have that????i recon 118000 miles and its a restoration job im only telling the truth and warning the mk1 boys not to get excited over it!there is no bills service history or any paper work with it and if it had been in the family since new surely there would be something ok things get lost but in my eyes it would be highly unlikely to loose everything!!!!if you view it take a look at the passenger rear side quarter its full of filler and a bad job at that!

I have bought the car with absolutley no intension of keeping it. I bought it for what i belive to be a very good price to make abit of extra cash on. Im only giving the information that i have had from the current owner about the car. Ive paid a deposit and am going to collect it tuesday or wednesday night. He has made no mention about any of the faults you are talking about. Which is pretty foolish in my opinion as i will be able to tell once i get there. Could i ask when you saw the car and where abouts it was when you went to view? Going on what you are saying i have asked the guy to send me the MOT test number and registration so i can check the cars MOT history with the DVLA. That way i will know befor i make the journey up there Wether he is telling the truth about current milage ect.

hang on a minute!! from the first post you make it sound like its a family car youve kind of inherited or something (what 'my' mk1 is worth, never had welding etc) your acting as though you know everything about the car and all information.

Now your saying youve bought it to make a profit on and havent even got it yet or even seen it??

If it truly is the one thats been on ebay a few times then there is obviously something wrong with it down to the fact it hasnt sold and i would be VERY careful with your money as you 'could' be walking into a nightmare.

Hi, i dont feel my first post makes it sound like its been in my family for years. Yes i did state "MY MK1" because a deal has been agreed and the deposit has been paid. I make no mention of it having no welding ect. I appreciate all your advise, hence the reason ive asked the bloke to send me the MOT test number and reg so i can check if he's telling the truth about the cars history.

Im sorry but your now starting to make yourself look very silly.

Whilst you didnt mention WELDING etc you quite clearly state its Totally ORIGINAL, with NO PANEL REPAIRS ETC and the paint shines like a new car.

I would say he has simply copied and pasted the 2nd part of his top post from the current owners advert
