Hi guys, any of you any good with computers??

My laptop is running soooo bloody slow at the moment. Seems to be just the internet.

Im running google chrome with sky broadband and doing one of those speed tests it say im running 13.8gb (meant to be max 20gb)

Web pages sometimes take up to a minute to load and most often they time out.

Ive deleted all my crap (i dont download any films or stream, just go on here, mig and facebook adn hotmail mainly)

reinstalled chrome and deleted inter explorer but no good.

my laptop is a dell 1735 with 3 gig ram, 250 gig hd and was great when i first got it but now its shite

any ideas?

Have you cleared all your internet history & done a disc clean up also? This will get rid of unwanted stuff & the build up of all your internet history should bring the speed up. smile

Then if you have them, do a good virus scan incase something has got in there that you don't know about.

try the following it might help:

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/home.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym&plfid=23&pkj=STMAUWZKTKDWYDMGJCD

I've had loads of DNS issues recently with pages not being found etc, but still have a solid internet connection, tho I could only dream of 13meg lol

changed my dns server over to googles one and things are much better.

just done another check and my download is 6.63mbs and upload is 0.67 so a lot less than i thought

I wouldnt run two av. as many scaners (none active) as you want.

If u have not got to much on it, just do a fresh install of windows.

My computer was running like a sloppy fart. so I got myself a laptop hard drive and a 2.5 in caddy, (off e bay) hey presto a very cheap external hard drive. put all my essential pics and documents on it.

cleared the whole computer and fresh install of windows Now its flying

BAD idea having two anti V's running.
