Heres where I get confused by insurance companies. Just tried HIC for a quote today.
I'm 38, full no claims, no points, no accidents.
My astra has the 16v bits (engine, gearbox, brakes, complete back axle) has a K&N air filter and a Piper exhaust. Sits on mk1 GTE wheels, no ICE, alarmed, immobiliser, kept in locked garage .. oh and limited mileage (3k)
I valued it at £1,250 (prob too much I know)
My quote ..... £290
Can I say wtf ?? |
Jeez, thats crap. I'm 40 so around the same age so I can't understand why yours is so high, post code maybe?? _________________

I tried Brentacre. Recommend by pug306.net. They were £40 cheaper than anyone else on my standard car.
They are very reasonable up to 180bhp apparently but over this I cant comment. |

You could try Footman James they are very good. I have heard that one part of them (either footman or james) has parted company with them and now offers super discounts as another firm, problem is I dont know which one or what company they have now formed! |

I rung Hic today to see what I would be looking at price wise on Janet, 37 no ncb (used on other car) Fully comp, full recovery, £170 excess, £75 windscreen cover, agreed value of £3000 (after photo proof) Does this sound ok for my mods?
Mods: 17" alloys, lowered 60mm, bucket seats, uprated brakes, 2ltr modded engine, GTE kit & s/s exhaust.
My quote>> £357.38 _________________

Thats a good quote. I got my van with HIC and my premium is about the same. Did they do it on a classic's policy for you? As they should.
Also you can reduce it by having limited mileage. I'd also say that when you sort out the agreed value go for at least £5000 as think about how much it would cost to replace and do the work again. _________________

Its funny thing this insurance. i went onto compare etc and with TPFT, the best qoute was £634 (no breakdown cover etc).
The lady phoned me the next day and asked 'how was your quote'. i said, 'a joke at that price'.
She then said, 'its quite old and you can go classic', so i said, 'go on then what is the price'. she said, well you can't use your NB and windscreen is in and breakdown homestart etc. i said ok ok, how much, thinking about a grand, she said £86.10.
i thought i would go with the £86.10 one, including the 5% tax lol.
