I've wanted a log burner for a long time and was happy when the landlady agreed to pay for one for us. So pleased I said I would do the prep myself.
It started as a full brick fireplace made of the bricks at the bottom of this pic. (Forgot to take a before pic)



The missile getting stuck in.





















The wall paper on the floor is what we will be putting up in the alcoves. The dado rail is coming down (thank god)

And finished. All in all it's took about a week.

Nice one, I did the same at mine.
Is that heat resistant plater board you made the recess out of?
Is also worth getting an eco fan to put on top, as you'll be amazed how much heat gets trapped in the recess, the fan then chucks it out into the room smile
