Hi all i said i would put up a tread on the restoration of my 1.6 SR so here goes history first its a 1984 hatch i saved this from the crusher from my local scrapyard on information from a pal who was in looking for parts for his car and spotted this in the corner it was dropped off by previous owner cause he couldn't start it . Here it sat for 3 years until i heard about it. I purchased for the massive amount of 600 Euros .Here is a few pictures of it then.

The strip down began to see the full extent of damage under the side skirts and wheel arches

Front section and part of inner front wing on passenger side had to be removed

New section welded back in couldn't get a GTE front end so went for a genuine non GTE front end and non genuine inner wing.

Back on spit to tackle the rest of car

A few more bits cut out and replaced

A bit of cleaning and primer applied before installing new section

After collection the reassembly began a new roofcloth was first on the list.

Next came the wheelarches there stuck on with tigerseal.

The interior was installed after getting a face lift

The 1.6 engine was rebuilt and new carb intalled

While the shell was out for paint i got a selection of parts including the wheels cleaned and repainted
