Hi Guys,
I've just got my Mk1 Astra Gte through its MOT after being off the road for many years.
The idle speed was running at 2000 revs so using the idle speed adjusting screw I lowered the revs to about 1000rpm once the engine was warm & it was fine doing so & ticked over fine.
The next time I came to start the engine it started but after the auto choke kicked off it struggled to keep running.
So I've tinkered with the screw again to make it run higher again but now even running on 2000rpm it will tick over for 3/4 minutes then the engine just cuts out, if I try to start it straight away it won't without giving it some pumps on the throttle then it will do the same again run for 3/4 minutes & cut out again.
I've also tried adjusting the mixture screw on the airflow sensor along with the idle speed screw but nothing seems to help.
I've even used my mates airflow unit from his mk1 Cavilier & it still acts the same way.
The engine won't let me bring the revs down to 1000rpm now as it just cuts out.
Up until I tried to bring the revs down it wasn't cutting out just running to high, not sure if it's what I've done or I've been really unlucky & something else is causing this problem.
I would really appreciate some help & advice please guys?

Check the air intake has not got a hole or come loose could be pulling in more air.

Cheers Dave

I've checked for holes & the unit is secure, I've also had a new fuel filter fitted & new battery.

I've had a friend take a look at it & he has set the the idle speed & air intake screw & lowered the revs down to around 1200/1300 & the engine has excepted this but if we try to lower it anymore it cuts out straight away when you turn the lights on but even when left running around 12/1300 revs it still cuts out after 3/4 minutes without the lights on 😡 I just can't get my head around it.

Any advice would be much appreciated 👍🏻
