I'd like to start a poll to see if we can drum up support to have the official site revamped. The official site is dying a death because of Facebook. This is just progress. We need to work with FB and not against it. People will always gravitate to whats easiest to handle.

A new website which incorporates Facebook would hopefully ensure the old site doesn't die off completely for those that don't use facebook but still need need the Mk1 community.

I know Glenn has a lot on his plate. We've waited this long, we can wait a bit longer. If we register our interest in a new site, it might be the catalyst to get the MK1OC out of this slump.

What do you all think?

I agree with you 100% the forum is a little slow and I'm not on Facebook so have no idea how much mk1 topics are on there, I have zero interest in Facebook because being honest I don't care what other people might or might not be doing in a day and I am not interested in looking at pictures of what they are having for lunch or dinner, but some sort of link so all the info that is posted on Facebook appears on mk1oc would be great as long as you don't have to sign up to zuckerberg ltd

The biggest issue i have is tge upload of pictures. Pictures speak a 1000 words and i find fb much easier to upload to. If something can be done here i think it would increase the activity alot.

Hi lad's if there's anyway my videos can help liven up the site I'd be happy to help anyway I can. The time-lapse of the rebuild of Gina had 21 million views on Facebook. If the youtube ones embedded in a more user friendly way on here it might be good. My understanding is that a video on the front page of a website helps it greatly in google search. I know my work is not up to the highest standards found here but the videos are something current and may help the site which has always been the backbone of motivation for me when times got tough over the last decade. I made 40 Astra/Kadett related video since January last year and would love to help.

The admins are actually working in the background to revive the club. We are going to modernize the website, incorporate aspects of social media and ensure we have all our admin posts filled with enthusiastic people.

The new website is being designed by Glenns company as we speak.

Yep a lot has moved over to Facebook but to comply with VBOA rules (so we can still attend shows with them) we need to keep a live forum so we are working on a streamlined website that will hopefully tick all the boxes. All of this has to be done after our normal jobs etc finish so please do bare with us, we are working as quick as we can smile

Would be great to have more activity on the forums, but I think the platforms that people have instant access to will now always be first choice. As a newer member, I joined last July, I dip in and out of the site, mostly at work offshore as I have a PC up and running, but when I'm home I only really come on now and then. It is mostly the activity on facebook I follow.

Hopefully with a more streamlined, slicker website, people will start using it again. Maybe even an App type of site would be an idea.

Keep up the great work guys.
