I ended up with the e30 mounts and just redrilled the stud positions to match the mk1 originals. _________________

Thanks for that. But just so I'm clear about what needs to be done - and if it's in my own toolkit and mechanical ability - the E30 mount apart from the securing bolts/studs is otherwise a perfect replacement and needs no further fettling to fit? mike |

They are on mine right now and all I did was redrill the stud positions. Tapped out the stud with a hammer in the vice and tapped back in with the hammer in their new position. _________________

Just to say thanks for the advice and the job is now done exactly as described so i can confirm it works. . I'd forgotten how rattles had intruded into drives . Now rattle free car the car did 60 miles over the twisting moors and was a pleasure again to drive. |

There's some upgrade versions on eBay at the moment. I confirmed they definitely fit Mk1s. _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

By upgraded you mean solid mounts, or road use ones? |

My lower back hurts just looking at those. . Bet they feel amazing on the bends tho. not for the portuguese roads saddly. have a mate that has a pair in his GTE and he is allways complaining of how hard they are. |
