Just like to say hi, been over a year since I was on these (or the old) boards. I like what you have done with the place Very Happy . Going to get myself paid up once I sort paypal out.

oh and btw quick question, which radiator do people use for XE transplants when your mk1 is not a GTE (mine was a 1300) as mine runs on the warm side of very hot ..

Nice to see the club going from strength to strength

Stephen

I think you'll find most people use the original mk1 one. You'll have to fabricate to get the mk2 one to fit.

Mine still uses the 1300 rad and it runs a bit hotter than i would like but that is how i bought the car so going to try and get the xe rad in sometime. You could try getting some heat wrap for the exhaust manifold as well can sometimes make quite a differance to the under bonnet temperature.

any old 80's vauxhall rad from a car with an engine size over 1.8 should be more than enough.

Damn I thought the mk1 GTE rad would be a simple exchange. I'm using a mk1 SR dash (same as GTE?) I'm wondering if the gauge simply reads on a different scale to the 16v one. Then again that does not explain why the damn fan does not cut in (new thermostat and new switch).

Use cable ties....!! I have LET rad and intercooler in mine and although I was lucky with the bottom mounts, the top is held on with the good old faithful cable tie.

As for the fan not kicking in then I'd be looking at the wiring and fuses if you have replaced the thermo and switch. Could be something really simple like that.
