When I rev the engine, I often get the noise of plastic catching. Im guessing this is the belt cover on the side of the engine, is this common or easy to fix?
Also, does anyone know of a good place to get the car serviced. It clearly hasnt been touched in years so id like a pro to give it a once over.

P.S. Ill be joining as a full member soon to put something back into the site as you guys are soo helpfull Very Happy

Yes more often than not it's the cam belt cover that is catching. Now why it decides to do it is beyond me, maybe it's just years of wear and tear that moves the bolts and sags the plastic?

Best thing to do is remove the plastic cover, this isn't an easy job as the bolts are in a b'stard of a place....and then rev it again. Please don't try to do it if the car is running or anyone is hanging around with the keys left in the ignition. One of the lads that I worked with was doing this when the customer decided it was a good idea to randomly try and start the car. Suffice to say he needed mucho stiches in his pinkies Surprised Shocked

Think ill save that job till after my holiday, can you get replacement chrome or polished alloy covers? Someone must do them.
There was a guy at Trax last year doing loads of bits like that (mainly ford) but I didnt get his number.

I'm sure Lee (Delmastiff) will be able to point you in the right direction for blingy type stuff. He know a guy on MIGweb that does them.

8v covers are plastic tho jay!! Unsure if anyone is or has ever done bling 8v covers, cuz they never came in metal so someone would have had to get it made from scratch.

I dunno, correct me if im wrong...

You could always just keep it off, not a very smart move but if it stops the chafing embarrassment Have a look see were it catches, it could be something silly.

Ill have a look at the old one and try sanding it down a but. There are some companies who make custom parts like that though.
