Ive booked half day off work to take the carpet out and to rip out the foam. Wanna have it drying out while im away and give the interior a piece by piece clean as it goes back.

I was suprised by just how much water was there, especially with having such hot sun lately.

It will take a least a week to dry even in this hot weather, it would never ever dry if you left it in the car.

I took all mine out and stuck it in a black bag.
I kid you not, I struggled to lift it with one arm it was that heavy....sod the putting it back bit, I think I lost nearly 4 stone getting rid of mine.

Seriously though, once the carpet is out, unless you really want original then don't put it back, there's plenty of aftermarket stuff you can put in, from cheap equivalent or expensive Dynamat etc. Just make sure you do put some in as the Astras can be extremely loud (put down the rear seats and you'll notice a difference)

I noticed quite a difference when I got a parcel shelf from lee.
Anyway the carpets are out now and ill prob go for dynamat extreme, used it before, only down side is its bloody heavy.
Ill upload some pics of the rust I found.
