Anybody had this done to them.

Recently i've been trying to sell my GTE.

I was actually prepared to break it, knowing that I would get much more money for it selling all the bits on ebay!

Had a phone call from one of the other members on the site saying he would come have a look at the weekend. He turned up and even though the car wouldn't run, he bought it and agreed to pick it up the following week.

When he turned up the following week, (with his father) his father was under the impression the car ran and the brakes (told him about that to) were good enough to get them home (60 miles).

'Don't worry' says the fellow member the member,' I'll tape my number plates on with yellow insulating tape and get the RAC to pick up the car and tow me home'. At this point they have pushed the car down the road and i've left them to it!!!!! too dodgy for me!

When i came back form my night out the car has been left opposite my house on the road! and the missus tells me they are coming back the next day to collect it!

The following morning i get a text saying that he needs a number for a local scrapyard to me, so that he can get the car scrapped because he's not going to be able to pick it up!

I gave him the number and that's it! Untill i get home!

The car has been stripped out, boot gone, windows, interior and a note saying sorry for any inconvience.

And then re-advertised it on here!

But he won't answer his phone to me!

Neighbours love me! And as yet it's been 5 days and the F**king thing is still there, guess he couldn't even be bothered to keep his word.

Now i'm angry. Well, i was 5 days ago but now. mad

Not going to mention his name but it won't take much to figure it out!

Guess i'm going to have to get it sorted out (and pay) myself.

The others of you i've met or talked to seem like a good bunch, so i thought i should warn you out this one!

That all sounds a bit off to me. Surely the guy that bought it should be scrapping it? If the log book gets sent off his name then at least you won't be liable for it anymore.

Well that is what i call a right wanker (if your side of the story is true).

Due to all the fines from dvla nowadays i would get shot of this asap or at least get it back on your drive and off the road.

Was the log book all signed up? if so get it off the the dvla and leave the bugger on the road plus phone the council conplaining about the car, he will then get a fine for untaxed vehicle on the road, revenge.

Unfortunately filled in the log book and sent it the same night.

Tried to get the police to report it to the DVLA, they just unofically told me to tow it somewhere else. Trouble is i live in a small village so i would have to tow it a long way before people wouldn't recognise it!

Ive had this done to me twice by people i trusted (nasty trick). mad

If youve signed and dated the v5/log book your ok. I sold a car to a mate? and he took what he wanted and left it outside a local police station mad

. i know it was my responsibility to sort the log book but its a poor do when you cant take somones word . mad

Well you should be able to get it scrapped for free... I certainly did with my stripped out cally. They even craned it away Very Happy

But, you'll need the reg doc... and if ya aint got that any more... then, arse! Tow it away somewhere...

when ive had cars scrapped by my mate he has never asked for a log book he has justed took it

Ill name them, it was me.

As you are more than aware, I have had problems with my mobile.

I tried every thing I could to get the car home but when checking the legalities of towing ect, I would have had to hire a vehicle with a towbar and a trailer, thus trying the easy option of the RAC, but as that didnt go to plan.

So I advertised it as free on here in the hope that it could be collected within the weekend but incase no one was interested, I contacted Burton Car Disposal who guarenteed me that the vehicle would be collected no later than Tuesday. I can show you a copy of the authorisation to remove fax that I sent them if you like.

As far as I was aware, it was collected on wednesday as was promised to me. As it seems it wasnt, I will contact Burton, first thing in the morning to find out why and to tell them it needs moving ASAP.

Feel free to contact them yourself aswell if you wish, they are collecting it free of charge as scrap value has increased.

I dont see why you couldnt have sent me a PM to discuss this instead on putting it on the forum as a 'warning' about me. I could warn about you, about how the electrics were fine on the car and that "it does run" when according to the RAC it hasnt run for ages and has too many things wrong with the mechanics to mention, or even how, after I paid ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£250 for the car and couldnt start it you offered to take the problem of disposing it off of my hands and re sell all the parts to make more money, if anything it sounds like your a scammer.

Even though I was un aware, I apologise for Burton not collecting the car and as peviousely said, I will contact them again in the morning and let you know the out come.

Oh, and you making a point about me re advertising it, I wasnt trying to make extra money or anything (even though being my car I could do what I want), I was simply advertised in the hope that it would be taken ASAP and be out of your way.

Listern guys, if this car hasnt gone by Friday evening when we all get home from work, let me know. I have a m8 who has always wanted my GTE.

Even if it doesnt run at the moment, my m8 is a banger racer and I'm sure what ever state the car is in he'll get it going and if he dont keep it as a project for himself then I'm sure he'll race it. provided he wants it that is.

He's got a trailer for his cars and we're in Luton, not far from St Neots.

Send me an e mail with some pics and details of the car state or even give me a call on 07984266323 then I can ask him if he wants it.

Lets hope we can all get through this as MK1 friends....ok

Right, having just spoken to the saalvage people, they tell me that the vehicle was taken on Monday and the lady I spoke to remembers the car well and could easily describe it and the parts missing from it. Seems that someone else was taking parts from it, dont want to make any acusations but I wouldnt be suprised to see a certain person from here putting bits on ebay (and if that is the case then its theft).

So who am I to beleive? Someone whos already tried to pull a fast one or the salvage yard who can give me a very good discription of the car and have told me that a destruction certificate has already been posted to me for the vehicle?

If it is still there, please send me a pic with proof of the date. If it was taken when they said they took it, then whats your problem?
