well now i have the good old 1.3s running im bored with it already laughing

so plan is as follows:-

C16SE head, intake manifold, injection systen
C14SE injectors, 4-1 exhaust manifold
1.7DT low blow turbo set to run 5psi Embarassed
Renault 5GT Turbo intercooler

i have to decide if to use the 1.3 or the 1.6 cam, i have the open/close degrees of the 1.3 but not the 1.6,

so im setting up a test bed with both cam housings/cams linked by a timing belt so i can compare both cams using a guage,

my question is do i want a cam that opens sooner/later or stays open longer/more lift etc Confused

ant one have an idea?

Regs
Rich

Personally I wouldn't run a diesel spec turbo, plenty of 1.3/1.6 turbos out there going for not alot. I've know cars to suffer engine trouble as the diesel turbos aren't up to the job like petrol (no idea why tho)

i'v seen that artical befor,

only using the diesel one as its one i have already for nowt, guessing cos diesel dont rev as high thats why the turbos cause problems as there set up to work lower down the rev range, but for this test it'll do lol

Not too much duration, you don't want any overlap as the turbo will blow straight through the engine. Nowt wrong with a bit of lift though Wink

i'll let ya know the differences tricky, cant see them overlaping on a standard 1.6 cam, guys on mig from what i read reccon the c16se cam is the best one vaux did as standard,

Could always find the highest lift cam from stock and then get it reprofiled to cut overlap, ramping up fast like WTCC do

Diesel exhaust manifold does not get anywhere near as hot as a petrol one!

measured the valves today and these are the results

1.3

inlet 33mm
exhaust 33mm

1.6
inlet 48mm
exhaust 33mm

after speaking to mate of mine thats into messing with turbo's he said thats the best head to use

just got to check clearance with pistons now but hoping the timing will sort that issue if there is one
