Is that all you have to do them, weld some new studs in the right place? _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

I have spoken to Marcus and he can supply 10 Pairs for 109 euros a set - Anyone interested?
Lets get the numbers together of who wants them. If we get 10 takers, I will order them - will need a small deposit from everyone who orders them.

Since everyone in Germany found out that the E30 BMW mounts fit, the price for originals has plummeted. |

The E36 don't have as much metal surface area on the mounting surface as the E30 top mounts. I'm not saying they won't fit but nobody has tried. E30 mounts do fit.
Mobile, It looks to me that E30 front top mounts are all the same. Don't accidentally buy the rear ones.
I have bought some modified spring mounts in Germany for when I fit my E30 mounts. The E30 mounts make the car sit 8mm higher than the Mk1 mounts. The new spring mounts I have lower the car 10 - 15mm so it should work out pretty much the same height when finished. |

Modified in what way ash? Would it just be a case of re-welding the spring seat on the strut a bit further down? _________________

Well I don't know what's wrong but got my e30 3 series top mounts but the diameter of the overall mount is too small to relocate the mounting studs to fit the mk1. Am I missing something? _________________

If you take the nuts off it will look slightly better. It pushes up on the strut tower so not the end of the world if its a bit thin on the edge.
The ideal work around would be to burn out the old one completely and weld the new one to it. |

Hi. I've been following this thread and need to bite the bullet now as rattles are becoming noticeable from the strut tops. Would someone- ideally who has done it - be kind enough to sum up if the E30 strut top mounts are a workable solution? Is there someone in Germany, if i understood the thread, who has already modified e30 mounts for the astra? And either way where you source the parts and a simple step by step summary of what needs to be done to get them (original E30 or modified ones) fitted and maintain the ride height . My car is original and not lowered. thanks |
