Just think, WRC cars will be going the same way soon (already banned from British Championship) and you'll see the start of the more production based Super 2000.
The ban of Grp B was also down to Henri Toivenen being killed in the RS200 (a cursed car, remember that crashed as the rear engine bay cover accidentally flipped open on one and flipped the car). Have seen 6R4s for sale in Motorsport News for about £25,000, probably the best £25,000 you can spend, with the god of all rally cars Audi Quattro Sport will set you back huge numbers but then it did have well over 500bhp on tap.
You should see either full on Rallycross (out accelerates an F1 car... and runs on gravel/tarmac) or the British Gravel Championship with the Gold star cars (you can build your own car with whatever setup you like but must be a recognised car shape and considered safe by the organisers) |

Yeah, I know the guy you mean. Him and Will Gollop are nuts (watched them race at speed inches from each other on a slippery surface at Autosport International) |

That'll be Pat Doran then ? He has retired the car now as he was struggling to keep up with the focus chassis. I believe hes running a fiesta now.
just found this little snippet from 2004
Quote: |
Dermot Carnegie wins British Rallycross Championship after a string of wins using either the unrestricted 840BHP engine or the 45mm restricted engine with 580BHP. Julian Godfrey Engineering uses this year to develope the restricted engines for the 2005 season dues to rule changes. Dermot also wins Irish Championship

Watching Rohrl in the "Climb Dance" footage is still mesmerising.. |
Climb Dance was a French film featuring Ari Vatanen in a 405 T16, nothing at all to do with Roehrl in the S1.
If you've got the money, you can buy S1's from this place in France. Last time I looked, they had the Pikes Peak Evolution model for sale as well as Stig Blomqvist's in HB colours. _________________

f#@k me you lot know squat about Group B! Henri Toivonen died in a Lancia Delta S4. Some observers say Toivonen and co-driver Sergio Cresto got out of the wreck and were killed by an explosion - some say they died in the car. The only parts left recognisable were one hub and a blackened spaceframe. There's a unproven and frankly dubious theory that the entire spaceframe was filled with nitrous oxide in an underhand attempt to gain even more power, and that's what caused the intensity of the second explosion.
If you want to learn more about Group B then try these on VHS or DVD: "Too Fast To Race" and "The Golden Age Of Rallying: 80s" _________________
