my simple opinion is that i think snap-on are over rated and over priced.
i use halfords tool..... ive built and stripped about 5 cars now and they are just starting to show marks on them, nothing worn, nothing rusty and all the ratchets are mint. also the local bus garage is now using them too and thats gotta say somthing about them. _________________ The one and only Sultan |

yes i agrree snap on while excellent are over rated,i use sealey tools with life time gaurantee but i have to admit to having a few halfords tools and they are of very good quality but sealey are my preffered option for value for money |

I agree, the only reason all my stuff is snap on is because i can pay weekly . Even my snap on guy says some of halfords stuff is better value with the same warrenty. A lot of snap on tools are just tools from other companys they own like sandvic beltzer . I recently had some trouble with my 1/2 inch impact sockets twisting again and again , when i got in touch with snap on they said there is a world metal shortage (somthing to do with Japan buying it all) and there metal isnt too good and that was all they could say so my £180 sockets were useless on the impact gun which i bought them for . |

I use Facon tools, once you use one of their ratchets you will hate using anything else.
I've also got tons of snap on stuff plus teng, and some halfolds stuff which is pretty good. _________________ WANTED - Big Block Legs, GTE Engine Mounts |

My toolbox and most of the tool's are snap on, but also have halfords tool's aswell but have to say the snap on quality is much better but what you are paying for is the lifetime gaurentee where if it breaks they will replace it foc and also handy having the van turn up once a week.
I agree the halfords stuff is ok quality and I use it at home but i work as a mechanic using my tool's 7 days a week and the halfords stuff dosent last for me so snap on all the way for me. |

I use a halfords set and bar a few specilist tools it seems to have everthing. Everthing is guaranteed for life, and when I snapped a socket they swapped it without a single question. My mate is a bike mechanic and uses Halfords spanners as he reckons that the middle of the snap on spanners is to bevilled and becomes very uncomftable if undoing seized bolts all day. |

Halford tools are ok, also Teng but i think WURTH tools are fantastic and are very good value for money
there spanners are said to be on par with snap on.

I have always liked playing with my tool, don't know what brand it is but I think the box said 'king size'
Veccie's a real authority as he is probably the biggest 'tool' here... _________________ The most hip hop mofo to ever come out of Halifax.....Jam Master Jay in d house!!! |

I've got a big halfords set, bought cheap cos one bit was broken ( like you ever use a screwdriver bit anyway ). Its good enough for home use. Snap on stuff is worth it if you are on the tools every day all day but overkill for the home mechanic.
A mate has the same halfords set as me that he keeps at home so he doesn't have to lug tools back and forth to work, even at home his get used pretty heavily but he hasnt managed to break anything yet.
IIRC halfords stuff is made by Facom..
I've just bought a clarke ball bearing rollcab & topbox on a vat free day and it seems to be fine and much more substantial than the slider units they sell, not sure about other clarke stuff though. |

Long as it's only him seeing it.
I've got mostly Halfords stuff, some of the spanners etc just don't hold the proper size in use whereas snap on would but it's nothing that hasn't been overcome. I also have the mutha of all Clarke jacks (3ton quick lift and way over engineered) plus a snap on breaker bar and a snap on electric impact driver (really useful) |
