Quick tip for you, don't race a Bimmer M5....!

I was being strung along too, they are fookin lightening fast.

I only went out at dinner time to grab sandwich as well, got my ass whooped fair and squarely....hats off to the geezer!!

It was neck and neck until he hit some kind of bloody light-speed button!!

I have just looked at the stats on these and I don't feel so bad now, I thought I was being beaten by some fat silver middle of line line cruise buggy....laughing

Right it's full race spec for the new year, and I'll be lookin for that coont driving around!!!

they have about 400 to 500bhp depending on which yr etc.

So get your astra to 400bhp and you'll keep up! Very Happy

Nowt wrong with racing much more powerful machines, I've lost to an Escort Cosworth and a couple of M3s in a stock GTE (nothing else tho)

Course I've whupped the ass of an RS Turbo when driving a 2.25 petrol Series 3 LandRover but then that's all part of the fun

No shame in losing to an M5 either, big they may be, fast they bloody well are

Would be an idea to fit some ARP bolts to the bottom end for a bit of added strength, otherwise talk to tricky for his jedi like skills

It'll not last at that Gary..

To go over 300 bhp I'd advise ARP-type head bolts, I'd prolly put another headgasket on as well to lower the compression slightly, Steel rods, uprated pistons, oil spray bars under the pistons, uprated clutch (I think you have standard?? Jacko would be the man to ask for that as he got it put in.) I know that your Charge cooler pump has been uprated, but I am not sure if it will be able to cope with the extra cooling needed, so I either put a CO2 discharge system on the standard intercooler or use a bigger intercooler in line.

I would also use wideband lambda monitoring too, you are going to need to know if you are running lean/rich, after all if you spend the amount of meny that the above would take then you are going to want to prtect your investment.

Although you could ignore the abover and go for it, then just rebuild it afterwards.

Mine is only running at 265 bhp at the moment, by the time it sits next to yours on the line next year wink, I am hoping for 300 also, with a standing weight of 800kgs. I am going to have to go on a SERIOUS diet though...laughing

feck me, you've been reading up mate!! ha ha. i know mines got an hybred cluch in mine got the receipt for £900 Shocked

seems like a lot of work for the over 300 brake mark..... (lot more than i expected anyway!!) ive just gotta get my uprated fuel pump and have it rolling road'ed again for 300bhp.

the prob i have with mine i dont know much about the work the engine has already had done to it..... it'll be nice to have it over 300bhp tho.

Jay if you dont mind could you pm me the spec of your engine please mate?

looks like i'll be leaving my nice leather on the show stand when i race you Jay........ looking forward to it mate, gotta get chunk in on the action as well............ being evil

Don't be talking about 3 way man action Gary...you'll get Mark all excited.

The internals of my engine are to remain top secret matey....even to me!!!

I really don't know that much about it. It goes though, that's about it really.

I have a Hybrid n stuff.....laughing
