Well, it's wrapped. And what a total #### to do.

Advice for anyone who wants to tackle it. Wear good tight gloves and one of those chuck away white painters overalls and a dust mask. The fibres go everywhere and stick to everything. I did want to do the lot but had to cut it to just before the taper as it tapers down that steep, when I was pulling the wrap tight it was pulling over and away from the wrap before. I suppose it's less messing when the stainless straight through goes on....

Fitting this and new rad tomorrow. After an oil change.....

Don't worry if it smokes a lot for the first few times you run the engine.

Found out my strut brace now doesn't fit as it hits the sensor on the brake fluid reservoir. Fair play to Ash who's sending me a reservoir lid with no sensor top....

I also bought a new vauxhall trade club battery. The previous one I bought was a proper GM one. This one was plain black with a big black sticker and white writing TRADE CLUB BATTERY. I needed to do something, so after a quick chat to a member on vodc and I've now got this, which looks a million times better....

New coil....

And a general pic now the manifolds been wrapped too....

big grin

Nearly there now, she's running and sounds great. Just got to refit the fan housing and tidy up / finish off some odds and sods. Bought her some new shoes. Some maxxis victra 185 50 14.

These....

They are now on the car. Lowered the whole thing about 20mm which I'm happy with

Lower would have been better but hey ho

Well I never actually posted a pic of the completed engine bay so here it is....

Well after much debate I've finally decided to take the massive (for xme anyway) jump and replace the 3 speed Hydromatic gearbox in the old bird with the 5 speed F13 ive had about 4 years. Is there anyway of checking its still working? Its been dry stored.
Ive got what I believe is most stuff, pedal, cable, linkages, smaller driveshaft etc but I know I will have missed loads. This will be an over the winter mission so will pobably put her n sorn. Do you think this will be an engine out jobbie to swap it? I would also apprecate if any 1300S owners could post pics of where their clutch cable attaches, comes through bulk head etc, generally any pics to do with gearbox and cables etc would be awesome especially the right hand side of the carb as is the pic as I wont be needing that contraption anymore.

Has anyone done this conversion?
