still got the slow acceleration problem, although after changing spark plug and cabling things improved...
the revs sound ok and in full blast when pressing accelerator when on neutral gear...
it is when on the road the problem....
clutch problem....to me the most likely event
blocked wheels ...if it was due to stuck brake pad, shouldn't be a burning smell around the hub?
blocked fuel line/filter.........i can not find a relation..please explain
faulty fuel pump....it should give more fuel in accordance with pressing the pedal right?...so somehow it can not rotate fast enough?
poor compression....but then why on neutral it sounds live and kicking? _________________ Σ-33 |

Check there is no slack in the cable to the carburettor. Do you have a burning smell on the brakes/wheels, or are they too hot to touch? Maybe the timing is slightly out, have you checked what this reads?Plug leads too old & may need new ones, so much to look at for these reasons & hard to say on a forum.. _________________

Easy test for the clutch is put it in 3rd or 4th a relatively low speed and floor the throttle.
If the engine revs high with a lag in the speed picking up then the clutch is slipping. _________________

I'd go for slack in the acceleration cable or fuel pump wat about over fueling _________________ SJ WHELAN |

What engine is it for starters? If it's a good old 1.3 then it could just be that the timing is out or an air leak from the vacume advance using on the dizzy!
Get the timing set up before trying owt else, if your breaks are rubbing a wheel or two will be hot! _________________ 1983 5dr project 1.4Ti in china blue

the engine is 1.0S.
this weekend i put on an new air filter and oil filter and speed shot up to 95kmh.
that is a little below 60mph
yet to do is change fuel filter, check pump, adjust timing....
the brakes seem to be ok...no funny smell or excessive heat...
seems i am on the right track though..
hopefully with a bit of carb cleaning and adjustment it will be ok.
since i found a new set of cluch for 50 GBP I think i will change it anyway.
it can only do good right?
is there a layman's trick to look for vaccum leak?
after all i only need it for urban use so a high top speed is not that important ...(used to clock 140kmh on the speedometer though!) _________________ Σ-33 |

Spray the area with WD40. If the engine note changes your leak is in that area _________________ www.mugshotsbridgnorth.co.uk |
