i keep getting side tracked and poking at the matting and then going back to the job in hand otherwise i will end up starting everywhere and finishing nowhere
todays jobs were
drive halfway around norfolk to get a door pin removal tool and pick up
engine crane and holder and another strip light.
fit strip light so i can see
work out why there was a puddle in the garage
removed doors
removed engine loom
unplug and label plugs on car loom from under bonnet
pull the loom through the bulkhead (just got to pull the wires through from the back tail light etc)
removed window screen
i will stick a few more pics up later.
i would of got more done but ended up repairing my daughters homework which was a battery powered buggy it came home running 1.5v with wooden axles and held together with cellotape and is going back tomorrow running 4.5v with a new on off switch and aluminium axles is it wrong that i will be gutted if it dont win the race |

when pulling rear looms out mate attach bit of string or wire to them first so you can use that to make re-fitting the looms easier _________________

Ouch... That's a really common place to go - I can't believe I'm saying this but ORP looks worse than Gilfy and that's saying something as Gilfy is a proper teabag.
I'll have quite a few of those rusty bits for sale mate soon.
I will definitely have the bit where some arse has cut two loom holes if you wanted to put that back to one.
I'll have the bit on the other side you just found that's rusty and I'll have various bits of nearside inner wing.
I've also got as mentioned before the whole lover bulkhead/front lower arm mounting assembly. _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

the bit with where the two holes are i was thinking of cutting a piece out and butt welding a piece of steel back in.
when i get the whole car stripped i can assess the damage properly and i think there is a good chance i might be in touch with you for some bits.
cheers

got a little more done today and exposed a few more holes i think i should start a list of what panels i dont need
however im a bit gutted as i really wanted to drop the engine and box out tonight but the lack of a hub nut socket put an end to that so i settled for removing the front pipe rad and fan and a few hoses.
ive added a few more pics but only a few as my camera battery died and i was to engrossed in the car to bother charging it. |

yeah it is like a dull burgundy i know after reading on here that it had been re-shelled supposedly by vauxhall but with the funny colour inside and the wrong front valance i think its debatable however it has had some work done on the front with some ropey welding _________________ orp picture diary

Yeah that extra loom hole in the bulkhead is just pure butchery.
I suppose you couldn't see it as that alarm was in the way?
Did you plan on doing a full back to body restoration from the beginning? _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

no i didnt see the two holes as that whole area was full of expanding foam which i can only assume was there to keep the water out.
my plan is to strip it to just a shell and put right any rust i can find and have a full respray inc the underside and anything that can be cleaned/painted put back on or replaced.
im now in the middle of removing the engine and box but i dont think im going to do to much with it as it ran really well and very quiet for an xe so i think the wife can pull inlet manifold off and other little bits and give it a lick of paint however i am going to fit an 8v baffle plate as its weeping a little oil. _________________ orp picture diary
