You don't need that bracket in the middle of the member either - that's for something to do with a diesel engine mount I think?
Did your car have a water tank in the wing for the bumper pressure washers?

My 1.2s if I am not mistaken also uses that middle bracket as an engine mount.
Portuguese GTE's dont have bumper pressure washers lol, I wished, it looks great on the car.

Ignore me mate, it seems German GTEs had them. Mine does too but I'm still not convinced mine isn't half German!

If I remember, it might have something to do with the fuel lines, as the GTE is different from the other mk1's for beeing fuel injected and not carbs. But I might be wrong.

The fuel lines do come through that gap you can see to the left.

Yeah mate, but if I remember correctly that is for some kind of support for the fuel lines, I remember someone here on mk1oc saying older GTE's had a support like mine, and the newer ones had a hole, or vice-versa, mine's from 1983. But again I can be wrong.

And the fuel line is metal there.
Mine's a very early UK GTE build April 1983.

There is a clip with a rubber bit that holds the flow/ return fuel lines, the mk2 Astra come through there too but it's fixed differently like dead eyes
