|
|
Could anyone help me when topping up the gearbox oil.
I've looked in the manual and it shows an 'oil level plug' which isn't there on the gearbox fitted to the car.
There is a an end plug which when taken off shows a circlip but I'm sure if I should use this as a guide.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Thanks, I've looked on both sides. One side is difficult to see clearly but there doesn't seem to be one. |

There is no drain on an f16 you have to take the sump plate off to drain the oil.
The level plug should be next to the rear engine mount between the drivehaft and the mount.
Fill it with oil from the breather ontop of the selector unill it comes out the level plug. _________________ [Click here to pay ransom to view photos] |

Jon is right about the oil level plug next to the inboard driveshaft. I had a rounded off oil level plug a few weeks back and thought my gearbox was empty. I'm glad I persevered and got it out because I would have put 700 ml too much in.

Thanks all for your help. Looks difficult to get to without jacking it up but then the car is not level to get a true reading. |

I normally park mine half on the path and the drivers side I drive onto some wood under the front and rear wheels, scoot under the front next to the kerb and check it _________________ 1983 5dr project 1.4Ti in china blue
