I'm trying to change the clutch on my Astra estate but my home made pressure plate clamps don't work. Does anyone know where I can buy the proper ones or does anyone in the Bristol area have some that I could borrow please?

Hi, I'm in Bishopston just behind the prison. However I spent this afternoon making some more so I may be OK now. If they prove as useless as my last attempt I'll get back to you, but thanks for responding.
Barry

no probs Barry material I used was 2mm thick angle iron anything smaller bent and you need the hardness of something like angle iron, hope it goes well

Well I've fitted my attempt at clamps and they appear to be holding OK. But the clutch plate won't drop out although I can move it around. I've pulled the shaft out as far as it comes and the cable back as far as possible. Any ideal what could be keeping it in? I've done everything the Haynes Manuel says.

I'm wondering if the reason I can't get the clutch plate out is that my clamps aren't holding it tightly enough. If yours have been used successfully could I borrow them and see if they work better please?
