Hello mate, my best tip would be before you cut all the old panel out completly, just test fit the new one on top of the old one and see if it covers it completly, mine didnīt, and I had to left the upper corners and weld the new one to it.

I'm filming doing one next week if I don't publish it straight away I'll try and send you private link once the videos online. It mightn't be the best job but atleast you can see what happens me. It's my second time doing one and it turned out ok the last time.

Thank you, for the info and vid.
Do you know the centre bumper brackets did you weld the valance to the inner sticky out brackets? Im thinking of putting some seal between them as the valance at that point has bumper bracket nut and bolt holding it all togeter, was the original spot welded there? Cheers.

I decided similar Dyl, that the bumper bolts will hold it perfectly well.

It looked like only two on this one and as far as I can recall there were three spot welds as you say on my other one Nelson

Yeah, funny enough the Kadett D/Astra mk1 was only made between 79-84, but allot of small inprovments and changes were made during these years, some of them are reported in the waynes manual. I've had Kadetts from 81-83, I am using an 84 model 18e engine on my 83 gte, and I also own a 81 1.3n and allot of small differences can be noticed on the cars.

The two welds are on the 1980 and the three were on an 83. Interestingly I think the early one's a German and the other one's from England. Much less rust on the German, both were first registered in Ireland.
