Step 1
First of all you have to get two front headrests out of a mk1 gte to remove these cut the front diagonal stiching at the top of the seat to reveal the foam. rip this out and you will see a split pin holding the headrest bars. pull it out and you can remove the headrest.

Step 2
Next step it to remove the rear seat to make it easier to fit the headrests to, to remove the fabric, pull out the black backing to show the foam, to remove the fabric reach behind it and pull it down and out, then all you have to do is pull it back to reveal the metal bar.

Step 3
You can place the head rest it one of two places, they can either go in the centre of the rear seat pattern* or you can line them up to the front seat. I lined mine upto the front seats, this is easily done by placing the outer leg on the seam of the rear seat shown:

*Although its best to go with the pattern for an even look.
You need to drill through the two sides of the beam with a 12mm drill bit, this is just a little bit to small but a file will enlarge it. Too much filing will make it loose and it will rattle. I recommend using oil to stop it getting too hot and burning the foam. make the second hole using the legs to line it up.

Step 4
Repeat steps 2 & 3 on the other side:

Step 5
make sure the foam is back in place and then pull the fabric back tight over the holes, use a scredriver or spike to make a hole, use the file from earlier to make the hole just large enough to push the leg through. Push the other headrest throught the fabric and then into the holes on the bar, and push all the way down and home.

Step 6
Push the fabric back under the bar and the lip. then replace the black backing.

Place seat back into car , stand back and admire.

Thanx to Sultan for the guide.
