Further to my previous posts HERE I've been doing a little more, the blocks ready, the heads ready, the box has been stripped and all thats left is to finish cleaning the box parts then reassemble when the bearings and gaskets and shaft seals arrive.
I phoned Vaux for the gearbox parts and the two bearings in the box are 6206 2rubber seal(RS) and a 6306 2rs but there is a retaining groove in the 6306 although the vaux part nos are different, they quoted me £81 plus VAT so I phoned a local bearing supplier who are going the supply equivalents (probs the same items!) for £25 inc vat and delivery..........MAD!!!!!! eek

Lee... after this one's finished, I dont care if I never see another engine ever again. smile
Seriously tho, cant wait till it's finished so I can get it back on the road.
The dyno print out says 137.5 bhp so with the intake mods and a bit of tweaking here and there she should be pushing 140 which ain't bad from a 1.8e. big grin

I've finished rebuilding the gearbox cluster with the new bearings and gaskets, should be back in the box casing tomorrow, I've also removed the head and all anciliaries today so with a bit of luck tomorrow, I should have the old engine block and box out and the freshly rebuilt block and box in the car and if all goes well....running big grin
Here's the pics.

Engine and box now in lads. Only prob was after finishing installing it, it wouldn't start....'much scratching of head' frown........found fuel lines on wrong way round...DOH. Sorted that turned key......started ok and run....for 30 seconds then cut out. Bolox. Turned over for two days after checking everything twice over......timing....fuel....numerous flat batteries...wet plugs.....finally found coolant temp plug had come off due to missing retaining spring. Only prob is now because the car was thinking it was starting from cold ie. -4 degrees, it was overfuelling so I now have about a litre of fuel in the sump oil so tomorrow I have to drain out all the oil/fuel and replace the oil with fresh stuff, charge the battery (again) and I should be in business. At least it is catching now so I know it'll start.
It dont rain and all that eh?

A few bits to put back on now, fan belt, water line fron the heater matrix tee piece to the fuel injection body, gearbox oil, then a fresh MOT then I'll get some NICE pics. I Should be back on the road in the next week or two spare time allowing,(shiftwork and a large family you see ( thats many in numbers obviously not LARGE) laughing ).
Next project is to strip and clean up the spax adjustables and fit em then fabricate a bit of stainless pipework to match up the moster powerflow letterbox backbox big grin to the stainless centre section but that can wait until she is back on the road.

Just painted the pmc grille, If anyone needs lamps for this type of twin grille, the part nos are valeo 082369 and 082371 (main beam H1 and standard H4). Dont know if this type of lamp will fit the irmscher grilles but these lamps have 3 threaded adjusters fitted to the back of the lamp.
