No need for a kit mate, they go in without hardly any hassle at all.
Engine mounts are the same, driveshafts are the same. It's pretty much bolt the engine in, wiring it up and off you go.
I've converted a Corsa myself and the Corsa was soooo much more hassle. _________________ 4x4 Turbo MK1 Astra - may actually be finished this year!

Just in the middle of a LET conversion in a Mk1, bloody wires everywhere.
It's easier to convert a Mk1 than a Nova or corsa, if you are using the F20 Gearbox everything mounts up with the exeption of the front engine mount which you will need to take off and put on the original Mk1 enigne mount.
Welcome to the forum by the way |

i`ll sell you a mint mk1 astra m8 but it aint a gte but is a 3dr non sunroof never been welded car it`s an absolute stunner of a shell and would make a stonking gte if you had a donor rotten one to swap the bits over but it`s not cheap as it`s one family owner from new and lots and lots of history mot`s services etc all done by the same garage right back to the eighties and it`s only done 53,000 miles and is red.pm me if interested if only half interested then i wouldn`t bother as i said i`m not letting this one go for sweety money sorry. |

Sheesh, people and milage, it's a classic car for god sakes, not a bloody mk5 escort. Hell if a Mk1 GTE had 200,000 on the clock yet was in good condition I'd buy it because you know it would have to have been looked after to cope with that (fragile buggers that they are)
Besides, for 1/4 mile, milage is the least of your worries, long as the shell is solid, you're sorted |

yes as i said in another thread mileage means nowt the hardest thing to find is a mint shell.hell i`d take a 300,000 mile mk1 if it had a mint shell, strength is what you need for big power anyway mileage is irrelevant if your changing the engine anyway i`d be more concerned about the car the donor engine was coming from and worry about my mk1`s strength. |

As for a price guide (for GTEs)...
Shed of rust - no more than £200
Bad (as long as it has t&t else it is classified a shed) - £350
Ok - Up to about £750
Good - £900 to £1200
Minter - Bend over and prepare for penetration. People are starting to know the worth and will price accordingly. For example, if you wanted to buy NGK you'd be looking in excess of £2000 (before the XE was fitted). For Toms you'd be looking well in excess of £5000 because its stunningly low milage, one owner, mint condition, unique engine and very well maintained
You want low milage and cheap look out for non GTEs, SRs are just as good but not as sought after and so cheaper, non sports models are also good, Marks (v33tra) 1.3L would be perfect as when he says it's mint he really does mean it |

You need a massive bank balance 24 hour recovery, real friends with decency who understand cos they've been there and if the bitch ain't dumped you already, she will do YOU WILL END UP SINGLE (but the car's more fun anyway and a lot less hassle)
