Did you do the XE conversion on the Ascona? I'm looking to do one over the winter and any advice would be welcome _________________

i bought her like that but i was in and out of the garage the guy was building her in
the best basis is a 1.8 manta or ascona it will have the sump dipstick pick up pipe gear box fuel injected petrol tank and engine mounts as these are very hard to get cause the ford boys are snapping em up 2.0l parts will not do as the red top ect evolved from the 1.8 manta engine
you can use a carlton geabox but u might need to get a propshaft made
you can use a 2.0 frontera sport sump with some mods but go for the alloy manta one
sbd do a red top engine mounting kit but its expencive it would prob do a better job than the alloy manta mounts when i broke mine i just made 1 and its still on it
sbd also do a red top to ford type 9 gear box bellhousing which means u could run a ford type 9 gear box (serria deisel clutch plate and red top pressure plate) and baby atlas (lsd ) diff which is what i was gonna do if i bust another diif cause they can take a bit more abuse
also a coil pack red top is the one to go for as it will not have the distributer running on the exhaust cam (which would need to be cut in to the bulk head ) if u cant get 1 the 1.8 manta it should have the dizzy on a small belt off the cam tho u might have to make a bracket to suit the red top
ashley exhausts make a mild steel 4 branch for red top to rear wheel drive conversions (i used a calibra turbo manifoild and just got the stainless made to go on to it)
wiring it up is a gift just the same as a red top in to a mk1 astra
any more questions just add me to msn rorymcclay@hotmail.com |
