Btw, when driving down here, TAKE IT EASY! No blowing the engine or box or anything else racing stuff down the motorways

I can't vouch for the engine at all, I have only driven about a mile in it (fast smile

) since installing it.

The ECU is still under the bonnet, the coolant temp isn't working, the oil pressure isn't working...etc..etc

A long as it gets me there and down the strip a few times I'll be happy.

I have already been bouncing off the rev limiter in all gears, so it works OK.

I think the boost cut off switch is still operating, I thought I had done away with it but it kicked in once. That might cause me trouble on the strip. I could end up limping over the line....Aw who cares..as long as I get to throw it down, that'll do for me.

So who's camping?

Jay when you say boost cut off switch, do you mean the Amal valve? I've got a brand new never fitted manual boost controller here if you want it, straight forward fit just two pipes to connect. Yours for ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£30, pay me when you can type thing. I can take it to POD if you like?

It's not a bleed valve, it's a manual boost controller. They work differently

Yep, Jay is gonna kill the engine... think I might run a bet on how long people reckon his engine is gonna last (no Jay you can't bet)

He won't even make retro cars - 4 to 1
Soon as he gets a manual boost controller (above) - 8 to 7 fav
Never - 1,000 to 1

Umm... not a huge amount, do have a bit of faith tho, did only give you odds of 1,000 to 1 that you'd never blow it up

Right quick update....

I have the exhaust on, very, very pleased with the wrokmanship, good set of guys and they really appreciated working on a MK1. Alpha tyres in Bradford, Big up!!! smile

I haven't got any pics yet, well, because I have been too busy driving it around.

Just got back now.

OK there are a few problems that need to be ironed out.

I have already sprung a coolant leak and I have destroyed both the standard brakes and the offside driveshaft.... Shocked

I enjoyed doing it though.

Oh and tonight on my way home I have had my collar felt. I was literally 2 mins away from home and I decided to drop the right foot. Right in front of a waiting cop car, bloody hidden down a street in the thick fog.

Had a nice chat, which as any of you know that has been pulled, always ends in...."you don't see many of them these days"

He asked me what engine I have in it and I coughed and said oh it's just an 8v.... Shocked

...I forgot to upgrade the insurance, anyhow I figured that they didn't look the type to get their hands dirty so I got away with it. I had to rip the boost gauge off the dash though as he was approaching laughing

They knew I was going too fast, but I also knew they couldn't prove it. I knew what they were waiting for. So to get things moving I said, look fellas I know I might have been a bit keen with the right pedal. Bingo, they had a get out clause. They needed to hear that so they could say the old "Ok Jase, just keep it down a bit"

All in all a very good night.

Tired now after typing all that.
