OIL.
If I corner a little to fast (which by the way is great because the astra just hugs the road), the oil light comes on? Then when I've straightened out again, it goes out.
Checked the oil level, its fine. As we all know, the engine is burning oil, but not leaking.
Any ideas? _________________

Definate oil surge. Maybe it's a faulty oil pressure sender or maybe your oil pump just aint working. No idea how to check this though
Normally I'm tempted to say you just haven't got enough oil in there but if you start overfilling then you'll knacker the valve stem seals. Could be that it's showing it's got oil but is lying. Is this possible? I don't know |

ahhh another cause could be the wire to the sender shorting i.e touching something metal.this happened to me with a taxi when cornering and the fecker went on fire.although fireman sam here put it out and i only had to rewire the engine bay and some wires in the dash and a few days later it was back out working but it stank for yonks.just follow the wire looking for cuts/rubbing etc but most probably a faulty sender or weak pump. |

Obviously check out what the lads are recommending but I wouldn't worry too much, mine burns oil when cold and when warm the oil light flickers at any revs below 1000, but the engine is as strong as feck. Anyway, just run it until it dies but in the meantime find a second hand lump and keep as a standby, it'll only take a day or two to swap them over and they're cheap as chips. _________________

my 1.3 estate used to suck oil into the carb when going arround roundabouts too quick then it would cut out for a split second then a big cloud of blue smoke would shoot out the back (engine was doing about 6500-7000 rpm) then off we would go like a freakin rocket,
very funny when beeing followed by some boy racer when he thinks your cars fooked and tries to pass,

If a car does that you just want it to spread oil all over their polished bodywork n see them cry like little biatches |
