|
|
Can anyone help with a technical query?
Ive got a MK1 1.3s and the engines knacked. Ive managed to source a very low mileage MK2 CAV SRi 1.8 engine same as a MK1 GTE engine.
Fitting the engines the easy party but Im a bit concerned about the wiring.
Does anyone know if the wiring loom from the MK2 SRI is compatible with a MK1 astra or will i have to get a loom from a MK 1 GTE to make it work?
Not sure how much work is involved and how much it may cost to have the loom adapted as I dont fancy messing with it myself.
I would appreciate if anyone from the site was able to advise on this.
Cheers

Anyone know where i could get an unabused loom then. There like hens teeth arent they?
My engines gonna pop anyday and ive got a nice 41k engine lined up so it kinda makes sense putting something decent in rather tha another crappy 1.3.
If I could get a GTE loom I reckon I'd be sorted. I reckon the fuel pump on the SRI would do the job would it not but then i'd still need a tank anyhows. Can you still get GM fuel tanks or do you have to settle for pattern ones these days? |

you would need 1.6 upwards front struts with the larger bearings and hubs take the sri driveshafts. _________________ The one and only Sultan |

You will need;
gte tank
extra fuel liine
fuel pump + filter, etc
power to pump
engine loom + coil etc
fuel replay (unsure if its attached to 1800 loom)
engine + box
1800 rad + fan
all the piping req
Drive shafts
1600+ hubs to take bigger shafts
MUCH bigger brakes (cuz your gonna go faster
and then you need a soldering iron in hand... Its easy to do tho, you just need the parts first. _________________ Nurburgring - Not for girls |
