|
|
Today I spotted this ad in the Manchester Loot:
MK1 Astra GTE, 1 owner, 67k, full mot, excel cond, no time wasters.
I rang him to ask if he wanted it posting on here - he said he's not got access to a computer so yes he says put it on.
Its Silver, had new front wings & paint, its in Hollingworth near Glossop & he says its been his uncles from new, it is in great nick and he's looking for about £1600 o.n.o but he admitted he's not sure if the price is right....
Anyway he's called Jimmy & his no. is 07795 201817.
I could get pics but its 25 miles from me so only if you're dead serious ok? |

That sounds like a gem...
BUT, have a chat with him first, make sure everything is as it should be.
Mk1 are great cars but can hide a lot of hidden and sometimes danerous rust/weakness.
If the car is Genuine 67K then everything should be OK, as long as it hasn't been patched up and hidden.
Do we have a buyers guide anywhere for reference for new peeps to the board? _________________ The most hip hop mofo to ever come out of Halifax.....Jam Master Jay in d house!!! |

I'd buy it, but then I'd only tear everything out of it and put a big engine in.
So it's best left to the purests I think. _________________ The most hip hop mofo to ever come out of Halifax.....Jam Master Jay in d house!!! |

I went to see this car the other day, it's not a bad motor, very little rust underneath, sills are still in good order ( nsr has a bit of corrosion ), interior is sound, even has a electric glass tilt and slide sunroof, the chap said it was factory fitted but its not as the paper work in the glove box says it was fitted in 1988.
On the down side, he's had to new wings fitted and a re-spray. Problem being it only cost £385 to do all the work and it shows, the re-spay is very poor. Also when hes tried to 'glue' the body kit back on when ever hes used masking tape to help hold in place, the paint has then come off the body work along with the masking tape. Couple of the arch trims are also distorted so need replacing.
Mileage carnt be varified as well as he has no previous history.
To sum up, fairly solid car, but let down by the cheap re-spray, by the way I got him down to £1200 inc 6 months tax. I've not had it because a few things he told me just dont add up, not quite sure if he's genuine, and why did he drop the price so quick when i was the first to view.
Might just be me being to untrusting, but thats the gutt fealing i came away with. See what you think if anybody has a look. |

By the sounds of it , wouldn't pay more than £700 for it, but that's me being cynical |
