Hi there,

I have just recently purchased another mk1 gte, having owned countless over the years. The odd thing about this one is that it is painted 2 tone. mainly white with an anthracite strip going round the middle of the doors and round the boot. The rest of the car is white.

This you would assume would be the work of a idiot, but I have my suspicions that it rolled out of the factory like this, based on.

- The bumpers are black, not coloured coded items as found on normal white ones

- Its had three owners covering 88000mls, with previous owner having it for 13 years since 1993 and he bought it looking like this.

- On the log book it states it as being two tone black.

Can anyone shed some light on this, or is it just an over eager paint sprayer?

The black vinyl bits around window and boot are standard on all mk1 GTE and SR and possibly other models.

It sounds like the car has been resprayed in its life and the bumpers were left standard, as only the white cars had the colour coded bumpers, the red, black and silver GTE all having black.

pictures please but if someone had it srayed then you can notify the dvla about the change and they will log it on the log book as for example 2 tone. So it may seem original bur in fact someone doing there job properly after a decent paint job but i seriously doubt they did a 1 off like this as we would know i feel sure! Get some pics up so we can have a butchers mate...

laughing laughing laughing Missing it Damo, or has the new turbo taken over your affections??
BTW, the white one with the XE fitted is superb! I've taken it out over the last few days and it goes and handles REALLY well. What was the suspension set up on it?
