I got a friend that got the astra mk2 rearbrake convert.
He bought handbrakecable from astra mk2 gsi 16v and it dosn't fit.

What to use?

It does fit.... just badly, it's what we all use here as there's yet to be a better solution

Are we talking about the handbrake cable that has different lengths on each side?
If so i found a soloution to the problems i was having when fitting mine.
I had the problem that the cable on one side was too short and seemed to be making the handbrake drag slightly.

So i then bought another cable of the same type.
If i remember right one side has a grey outer and the other has a black one.
I think it was the grey ones i used as they were the longer side,i made a slot in the equaliser bar so as i could remove the shorter side, i then inserted the longer side from the new cable (so i now had equal length cables) and welded the slot shut and tidied it all up.

All seems to work fine now!
