Im just getting fed up with the junk on here. Im going to start another thread asking for genuine interest only thats all. I know it looks sorry for itself, its in mid-restoration, i think its best to show it as it is, trying to dress it up gives a false view of it!
Admin please close this one. Cheers |

As Ash says clean most of dust of it, make it look a little more tidy. Put seats and interior as it should be.
As the car is it looks like its been in a scrap yard and you bought it to sell on for quick buck. You will get some better offers with a little bit more care and a attention, otherwise as cheeky as they look the offers from porky p, sparko and others will be best you can expect. _________________ Die rust die!!!!! |

woah, woah! back the truck up! - mine is genuine interest & i explained the reason for why i thought it was worth less than the asking. fair enough, i could have kept it off forum but the precedent had been set earlier in the thread.
if i wasn't 140 miles away i would be able to afford a higher offer (region of £400) - just because i offer a lower price doesn't mean i'm not serious. anyway... |

Im amazed by this i really am, all ive asked is for the comments to be kept off forum. Is that so much to ask? I dont want to clean it up and hype it up to the extent someone travels to see it and is disappointed or mislead. If that happened id be slated even more.... Im showing it at its worst. If your serious you will see past that and see it for what it is. Ive been looking at these for ages, and i really dont think £500 is over the top. Finished ones make an aboslute mint. I could bodge that together with an XE and id be laughing. But im being honest about it and want a genuine enthusiast to have it and carry on restoring it to what it should be. All im asking for is the respect to leave my advert alone. If your genuinely interested, come view it and make an offer. Why am I being made out to be an arse?? I dont get it... |

You shouldnt be amazed as at start of this particular thread nothing was said about keeping your comments to yourself.
Some offers have been a little silly but its an opinion by someone.
But to to take the words of a decent member here (Ash) and say it is junk dont be surprised when someone like me turns round and says you got piss poor attitude.
All Ash has said is clean the copius amounts of dust and present it a little better, that way someone may well be willing to travel to see it, we were trying to help you get more as you wish.
We all want and like mk1's and want the best for them and there owners. _________________ Die rust die!!!!! |

But surely its common sense and decency?
As you say if cleaned up someone will be more willing to travel. BUT they may be disapointed, where as it is now, no one will be. When i said i didnt want the junk responses, i wasnt pointing at anyone i just wanted the thread kept clear. If you want to slate me and my car then leave it to PMs, at least that way i can swear back LOL
Yes offers have been stupid. The asking price is set, and i wouldnt expect anyone to insult me thats all. It gets a litte frustrating. If you really want me to clean it up, big it up to something its not and waste genuine peoples time then fair enough, but im a little more honest than that. Cant you see my point? |

first off, i know i'm new here and i don't intend to fit straight in or wade in throwing my weight around (which might be what it seems), but i do try to be fair & honest in my posts.
i don't think all the offers have been stupid. you've got to bear in mind that a similar project to this sold (by "new boy" here on the forums) for 265 on ebay earlier this week - looking at face value, disregarding what this may "owe" you in terms of time put in, would it be unreasonable of people to offer around that price? to them (/me), there's nothing that stands out on this one to make it worth double what a similar project fetched. and btw, he was looking for £500 or so as well.
a car is only worth what people are prepared to pay for it, not what you think it's worth. if you ebay it you may strike lucky and get 2 people who want it badly enough to enter a bidding war, but why didn't that happen with new boy's? i'm not having a go, it's just market forces and at some point you'll have to be realistic and wonder why no-one is offering £500.
mate, i'd love to be able to come and view the car before potentially putting an offer in, but i'm 140 miles away - it's neither practial nor financially viable. i would have to buy this car "blind" apart from the (mostly blurry) pics, tow it back to derby at great expense and *then* put windows in etc. so i can leave it outside. then i would have to see to the engine immediately so i could move it in/out of the garage (when i've made room ). so, on that basis i reckon an offer of around £300 is far from insulting when you consider the circumstances of the offer. that's roughly what it would be worth to me. unsubstantiated offers of £150-£200 i would call insulting, though
if i was selling it, i wouldn't tart it up as such but i would put the windows and lights in, put the nsf wing back on and clear out the interior so folks can see the condition of the seats. it's perceived value and people would see that they're buying a complete car, not a pile of bits. i can see past that, but not all people can.
i've waffeld on long enough - hope it makes sense.
cheers, |

Its an open forum and people will give what they think is good advice and a decent valuation in there eyes, as you will see from loads of other posts people make suggestions. If you dont like it then just say the offer isnt good enough or thanks for advice, not have a tantrum and throw it back in peoples face and call it junk.
But you cant seem to see the point of me and Ash that cleaning the dust of the car and making the interior veiwable by pics is not bigging it up in anyway.
People will only get disapointed if you dont tell anyone about something that needs doin. But I can see your not trying to hide anything which is good thing.
New boy car went cheap mainly cause he had no reg doc probably, which I thought was illegal to do these days. But it did look better condition than this one. And I have to say a non running GTE in need of a lot of work is only roughly worth 3-400 max in bits, and you be lucky to get that.
I have a excellent condition prototype GTE (1 of 2 in UK and 1 of 3 known) shell with a non running 16v in and only needed front brakes to be bought for it with umpteen spare parts and brand new upgrade parts and mk3 dash conversion and no-one wanted to give me 600 for that 3-4 months ago. _________________ Die rust die!!!!! |

Dudes, dudes, dudes........chill......all opinions being past, I can see both points of view but please let's not do this on the 'for sale'
Best bet would be to lock it and move on which is what Drizz has asked for now.
Peace and Love
