|
|
Yes I know I haven't even had it a week yet, but I am starting a job that will give me the use of a company car so something has to go as I just don't have the space.
So after 6 days ownership it is very reluctantly offered for sale. Not best pleased as I have been after a van for years
To recap, this is the one off ebay last week here
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=003&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=130087710211&rd=1&rd=1
Since I picked it up last Saturday I have really got cracking on it and is almost finished, to how I wanted it anyway...........
Work done so far
-All the 23 years worth of various accumulated wiring removed, and there was a lot of it!!
-GTE seats fitted
-SR steering wheel fitted
-6 gauge cluster fitted
-Replaced radio surround
-Clear front indicators fitted
-Headlights replaced
-Front bumper straightened and corners re-attached to wing brackets
-Window winder handles replaced
-Footwell trims replaced
-Near mint GTE alloys with Pirelli P6000's with loads of tread
-Replaced rear bumper
-Removed all the crappy bits of wood out of the load area
-Replaced fog lights
-Pulled out rear valence slightly
-Replaced tailgate
Think thats it so far.....makes it sound easy when you just write it down as a list, not 4 days work!!
Jobs to do, which will be done before sale
-2 small patches on sill to be welded
-MOT
-Carpet load area (on order)
-Adjust brakes
-Paint tailgate
-Wash polish and hoover
This is one very straight and solid van, not mint by any means but it is very tidy indeed. Yes its been painted and touched up in areas and a few repairs done over the years but at the end of the day this is a 23 year old van that has worked for a living.
I was so suprised to see how solid it was when I looked over it. Floors are original and rot free, inner wings are too!!
Engine runs great, its a bit tempremental from cold (like most 1300's) but once its warmed up a bit its fine. Its fitted with a Varijet carb and K&N filter. Makes a nice growl when floored!! Though can't say I noticed any change in power!!
The 4 speed gearbox wines but operates perfectly. It doesn't crunch and is very light to use. I was going to change it to a 5 speed F13.
This is a great reliable van, I did 223 miles bringing it back home and it completely fine.
Im not letting this sell for peanuts though. Everyone knows what I paid for it and I know what it will owe me when I have done all the work to it.
We all know how rare these vans are, yet alone one that is as solid and tidy as this one. All the bits will be staying on the van which makes it that little bit more special and unique.
I will post a load of pictures up later for everyone. If you want any specific pictures or any other information let me know via PM or email me direct at astradave@btinternet.com
Price wise, Im looking for £1100, as it will owe me very near to this with all the work completed and a new MOT, or i'll try and find somewhere to store it for a later time. I really don't want to have to sell it but with a new job and enough projects to be getting on with it seems the sensible thing to do. I have already spent a load of cash on it and still have some to spend!!
My Calibra SE5 will also be up for sale in the near future. _________________ I have a can of whoopass with your name on it, don't make me open it!!

Really need it sold and gone by next weekend. I am open to sensible offers and will be willing to sell as is for £850. Its Taxed until the end of the month and MOT'd until 5th April so its still legal to use..............just.
Interior is very tidy now, just needs a hoover and a wipe over. Recaros are in very good condition with no holes in the bolsters.
Here are some pictures as promised _________________ I have a can of whoopass with your name on it, don't make me open it!! |

Well its still for sale, not managed to get much done on it this week though and quickly running out of time!! I have managed to adjust the clutch slightly but if it turns out it needs replacing I do have a spare one that can be fitted. Its doesn't slip, just the bite is quite high. Also managed to flush the brake system through as the brakes were non exsistant and apon inspection the fluid was black.....yuk, so bled all the pipes through with nice new fluid. The horn didn't work so after a bit of investigation checking wiring and connections found the horn itself was duff so took the one off my gold Astra. The the foglights wern't woking either and found out the switch was dead so swapped it over with a spare one I had and all works fine now. I have had a good crawl under it checking for MOT type things and all looks fine to me. Everything is solid and CV boots are perfect. Problem is now that the garages in town are booked up with MOT's for the next few weeks because of the time of year, 1st April registrations, so it really needs to go as is as I just can't keep it that long.
£850....or
£750 without the alloys as I have been offered £100 for these seperately.
Must go asap!! _________________ I have a can of whoopass with your name on it, don't make me open it!!

Just checked this, its actually 1st of March when the new reistrations are released, must be a back log of cars as there are only a few MOT Stations in town and the garage I usually use told me "can't get you in till middle of April cos of the time of year" So I just a assumed 1st April was new reg time. Plus he was going to do the 2 small welds on the sill for me. _________________ I have a can of whoopass with your name on it, don't make me open it!! |

Update, Revised.
It will be going in for its 2 small patches welded on the sill and will be getting a fresh MOT on the 16th April. Rear load area will be fitted with matching charcoal carpet and the tailgate will be painted and fully fitted. Going to fit a pair of Nova mirrors colour coded white and replace the gearknob with a Pool 8 ball. Not to everyones taste but the one on it at the moment is loose and tatty.
Pictures to follow as work progresses.
If I have no interest from anyone here by the 16th it will be listed on ebay. _________________ I have a can of whoopass with your name on it, don't make me open it!! |

£850 as it is with a whole 5 days MOT...........
Be nicer to sell it with a full ticket and all the work done though. Be looking for £1100 with it all done. _________________ I have a can of whoopass with your name on it, don't make me open it!! |
