I know not having a log book isn't brilliant but surely a car of this age and value isn't worth trying anything dodgy on? Can you not ring the DVLA and ask for confirmation that another can be obtained before someone buys the car?

Afew years ago i bought a mk2 gte with no logbook.Went down to the local cop shop and they ran a check to see if it was stolen ect.Then reapplied for the v5 which came in acouple of weeks.
The orange 5 door is a bargain.I very nearly sold my mk3 8v turbo to get that but the sunroof put me off in the end.Rest of the car looks mint tho`.
