I have just emailed qh to see if they have any left in stock or know of any retailers that do or would even consider making them again. Also put a post up on a website that matches suppliers with retailers. Fingers crossed! _________________

I got in touch with the Russian company that still has them and offered to buy everything they had. They said they will not sell outside Russia. Bloody communists! |

Aren't they part of the "EU" now. _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

Nope. Some of the old USSR states are now in the EU but that's about it. |

Go with the bmw e30 tops they are a great fit on the shocks I had already cut mine for mk2 tops so it looked a mess but that method Ash found looks the job but I wouldn't weld the bolt in as that would melt the rubber |

Just noticed Lancia delta top mounts are pretty similar and worth investigating. |

My top mounts will not pass the mot need to get the car back on the road! So I found a set on flee bay assured by the company selling them they will fit???
After parting with my cash the pistman delivered a shiny set of mk2s!!! (Result)... To that end I've taken the strut into work and pulled it apart to compare the new mk2 against the mk1s!
My plan is to carfully weld up the mounting holes on the mk2 mounts while spraying the mount with cold water to prevent over heating, then to redrill the mount to the correct size for the mk1!
Now that I've got the different mounts in front of me I can see that the bearing in the mk2 sits 25mm higher and that the top need to sit through the top of the strut housing. I know it will fit from my measurements but I'm going the give it another physical check tonight! (In the words of my old man measure twice cut once)!!!
This is by no means the ideal solution but my hand is forced. Hopefully the 25mm difference will only lower the front end and not affect the camber or other geometry?
I'd post pictures but the site won't let me upload directly off my iPhone? _________________ No sooner did I get the mk1 back on the road, she's back off again for turbo power!!! |
