Just wondering if anyone on here can help as my home PC is having a tantrum.
When I turn it on it loads to the windows xp screen but then say I need to register my copy of windows? Now this is odd as its been installed for 2years and its a legal copy.
Think I've got a bug so started in safe mode and run antivirus software but still the same.
Any ideas? before i smash it up.......

| re enter the activation code, it shouldnt cause any problem, it sounds like its just wanting to say hello to home at microsoft land |

Problem is its asking for address and stuff which makes me think its a bug???

yeah, shouldnt be asking for an address...
does the system still run fine after you close the window? |

No won't boot to desk top. Just goes a login screen

| Can you remove the hard drive put it in a caddy and scan it with another machine? |

Can you reset it to a previous date, (restore point) It should give you an option to restore it to an older date, such as two weeks ago.
