|
|
I have done a deal with the guy selling the EXP-s that was on EBAY and I will be collecting it next weekend hopefully
It belonged to the guy's Grandad from new and was lovingly cared for and garaged until 1999 when his brother then had it. He continued to look after it until a couple of years ago when his brother (the guy I have had bought it from) had it. The brothers' father is a mechanic and he stripped and rebuilt the engine a couple of years ago so it should still be sweet.
So it's been in the same family for 23 years and looks to be in good condition still. It failed the MOT on sills so I'm hoping thats all thats wrong with it.
Does anyone know of any other EXP-s that are still knocking about?
Here's some pic's - Nasty looking seats! But no sunroof !

wanna sell it?
if you gonna be driving it daily you should fit a weber 32/34 carb (iv got a spare ) its quicker and more economical with it.
you should tune the 16sh motor in it, youll be suprised how powerfull they are. mines quicker than a standard gte at the minute watch out for the soft bottom end.

I picked her up today and she's in remarkably good condition. She had failed the MOT on a small section of near side sill that needs welding but apart from thet she's spot on. Inner wings all good, rear arches good too. Some bubbling on rear hatch. Interior mint, no rips in headlining etc etc.
I drove her back home, about 120 miles and she didn't miss a beat. Drives faultlessly.
BUT.......... I don't want it!! I'm buying something else now and if I hadn't already done a deal with the guy on the phone and made him take it off Ebay, then I wouldn't have bought it. But as they say, a deal's a deal so I honoured my word and bought it.
So, Martin (nrj) saw it today as I popped over to see him once I'd collected the car, and he really liked it and is considering buying it off me.
I want what it owes me. £300 plus my £20 train fare and £20 petrol, so £340 for a VERY good 3 door mk1 NON SUNROOF and it's a EXP-S model.
When the old guy bought it new back in '84, the VX dealer told him is was only 1 of 4 in the country, so as rare as you're gonna get in the MK1 world I reckon.
Let me know if you want it.

Does anybody know if this EXP S still survives?
Was it on an A plate? I note the comment above saying it was bought new in 1984 and was 1 of only 4 in the country. I suspect that he meant at that time, as pretty sure there were a couple of hundred produced when introduced the year before.
Interested as I owned one myself back at that time.

It's wasn't too bad compaired to a lot that have been saved, got stripped and the guy lost his storage and got picked up by the scrapman at that time about 10 years ago they had no valve
